MY BLOG

Curious about other works of writing I have produced?  The images below link to my blog posts in the Sweetland Minor in Writing Blog Archive.

By clicking the image above, you can peruse what blogs I have posted during my time in the Gateway course of the minor.  They are listed in order by date, with the most recent at the top.  I highly suggest starting from the bottom and reading up - it really shows my progression throughout the semester and how I developed as a writer.

In this blog post, I talked about the challenge of taking on my Repurposing Project.  Through writing this post, I explored why there was a need for the type of magazine article I was planning on producing.  I also realized how big of a challenge it was going to be writing in a form I had never tried before.

This blog was used to explore other types of blogs.  Since I have never been one to follow blogs on a regular basis, I had no idea where to start.  In the blog, I discussed my thought process behind this and also how I ended up discovering a blog that was quite humorous and enjoyable.

This blog explored the beginning process of my Remediation Project, in particular the planning process of it.  My dismay of how my original idea did not work was clearly addressed, but I also showed how this ended up leading to a new idea which was more personal and made for a better overall project.

WRITING REFERENCED IN THE WRITER'S EVOLUTION ESSAY

  1. Kemmer, Amanda R. The Magic of Erwins. 13 Nov. 2016.

In this piece, I travel to Erwin Orchards, a popular Southeastern Michigan Apple Orchard to re-visit a place that I’ve traveled to many times in my childhood. It explores how a place changes with age and how it also changes with who one travels with. Additionally, it uses memories as a way of exploring how the similarities and differences of my re-visit affect me in the present, as well as the future.

2. Kemmer, Amanda R. RICH Impacting the Rich. 6 Dec. 2016.

This piece uses the mall, Twelve Oaks, as a framework for exploring the commercialization that is occurring in my hometown, Novi, MI. It explores the renovations, the changing demographics, and the changing Metro-Detroit community as a way of exploring how the city has shifted to tailoring a different type of consumer.

3. Brown, Guilfoyle, Kemmer, Mallon, and Reaume. FMR, Inc. A Recommendation for E-currency Acceptance. 2015

This group project ultimately provided a recommendation for a company, FMR, Inc., to accept payments in the form of bitcoin through using a third party. In order to provide this recommendation, a five step process was laid out to provide the most effective, risk-averse option for the client.
